How it works
What happens to your report, step by step
No black box. Here is exactly what MedSays does with a report, and what it does not do.
1. You add the report
Upload a PDF, a photo or a screenshot (up to 4 files, for example the pages of one report), or paste the text. On a phone you can take a photo directly. Cover your name and ID numbers if you like; MedSays does not need them.
2. We read it
Our server reads the report in memory. If the PDF contains text, we use the text. If it is a scan or a photo, we prepare a clear image of each page. Nothing is saved to disk.
3. The AI explains it
The report goes to our AI provider (OpenAI) with careful instructions: explain only what is in the report, use the ranges printed on it, use plain words, never diagnose or suggest medicines, and point out urgent results first. The answer comes back in the language you chose.
4. You read and ask
You see a short summary, your results marked in range, high or low, the points that matter most, sensible next steps and questions for your doctor. Then it works like a chat: ask what a value means, what to ask at your appointment, or attach a newer report. You can copy the explanation or print it for your appointment.
5. What is kept
As a guest: nothing. We discard the report as soon as the answer is sent, and the chat stays only in your browser tab. With a free account: the conversation is saved so you can come back to it on any device, encrypted with a key that belongs to your account. The uploaded file itself is never kept. Delete a conversation or your account whenever you like. Details are in the privacy policy.
Getting the best result
- A PDF from the lab or clinic works best. For photos, lay the page flat, use good light and keep all the text in the frame.
- Include the reference ranges if they are on a separate page.
- Handwritten notes are hard to read for people and AI alike; typed reports work much better.
What MedSays will not do
- Tell you that you have, or do not have, a disease.
- Suggest, start, stop or change a medicine.
- Replace your doctor, who knows your history and can examine you.
